Solutions to destination wedding logistics

by Liz Gatherer

Planning a wedding is an incredibly joyful experience for the wedding couple but what things should you perhaps consider if you are planning your dream wedding overseas? We take a look at some incredible solutions when planning your destination wedding.

Destination wedding day to day schedule

There’s usually a lot more information that your guests need to know when you are planning the logistics for a destination wedding. For most guests, they will be holidaying with you and they’ll need to be informed of the key times and locations of all that you have planned. You may need to have a rehearsal with your wedding party, you might be planning on a meal together with all the guests the night before your wedding, and breakfast the morning of or perhaps the day after the wedding. There might be a bbq planned for a couple of days after a beach wedding or maybe an evening of mulled wine and cheese for a ski resort wedding. Maybe you’ve organised a boat trip for all. Whatever the plans, don’t forget to make sure your guests know when and where they have to be!

Including this information in Wedition, a personalised wedding magazine is a simple and stress free solution to making sure all your wedding guests have access to all the information they need to know.

Destination wedding logistics general notes for wedding guests

There may well be a few random bits of information you feel that your guests should know, but how do you inform them? We can include a page within your personalised wedding magazine that can cover all of this. You may need to remind them it is a cash bar, or they should wear sensible footwear as the ceremony is taking place on a beach or in a field. Perhaps you’d like to mention that you have personalised fans to keep guests cool or blankets to keep them warm and the guests are welcome to help themselves to these gifts, maybe you want to remind them to bring a hat, wear sunscreen and pack mosquito repellant to the evening.

Wedding day logistics at a destination wedding

Your personalised wedding magazine is now brimming with wonderfully useful information to ensure the smooth running of your destination wedding. But we mustn’t forget the core of the day… that is YOU!

What really makes a personalised wedding magazine so special and unique is the chance to share your love story with your family and friends. Along with all the logistic solutions for your destination wedding, you’ll surely want to share the story of how you met and your proposal with your guests, perhaps even the story behind choosing your destination wedding venue. It’s a great opportunity to introduce the wedding party to all, a photo and bio for each wedding party member really helps everyone get to know each other better. Many destination weddings have a more intimate guest list, perhaps you could include a brief who’s who of each wedding guest, maybe a little known and fun fact for all!

  • How you met
  • Proposal story
  • Wedding party who’s who
  • Guest list - fun fact for each person
  • Story of the destination wedding venue choice

Real Wedition Weddings: C&J chose to include a photo of every single wedding guest inside their Wedition and S&M listed each and every one of their wedding guests explaining their connection to them as well as a fun fact such as an interesting hobby, unusual fact or famous person they had met! This is a brilliant way to break the ice amongst wedding guests who may not have met each other before.

S&J had a weekend wedding in France, they left a copy of Wedition in each guest bedroom, along with venue information and the wedding order of service, they chose to introduce the wedding party, share their proposal story, include the hen party diary, and they had photos of the bride when she was young and stated the sporting achievements of the groom. They also included the wedding menu and weekend schedule.
