The Elvetham Hotel | Wedition venue showcase

The Elvetham is a 19th-century Gothic Mansion built upon the remains of a Tudor Manor and set within 35 acres of gardens. With an expansive history that dates to the creation of the doomsday book, the mansion has spent the last two-years undergoing renovations to highlight its true character.

What's your favourite fun fact that you love to share with Elvetham couples?

One of my favourite things about The Elvetham is the history, I love including the history of your gorgeous venue within Wedition. What’s your favourite fun fact that you love to share with wedding couples?

The Elvetham is steeped in British history dating back to the 11th century. The house was once owned by Jane Seymour’s brother Edward who hosted Queen Elizabeth I. On her visit in 1591 the Queen planted an oak tree which still stands tall in the grounds today!

What is your absolute favourite location for an iconic wedding day photograph?

Set within 35 acres of manicured gardens and exquisite country house, we are lucky to boost so many beautiful spots to showcase your special day, but our favourite has to be under our reception canopy at night.

Tell me about your honeymoon suite?

We have two honeymoon suites for our couples to choose from with contrasting features. The first is located on the second floor and offers stunning views of our Formal Gardens and an abundance of space for our couples to enjoy and relax after their big day. The second is located on the first floor and boosts a more traditional feel with access to the only balcony on the property- perfect for some private midnight stargazing.

How do The Elvetham team make a wedding day so unique?

Here at The Elvetham, guest satisfaction is our priority above all else, and we enjoy being present every step of the way with each couple to assist in any way we can. We are a very close-knit team and bounce off of each other in order to consistently improve our service. The Elvetham itself offers such a lovely balance of historic character combined with a modern twist and this is how we try to work. It’s important for us to uphold the values we have always had whilst simultaneously striving to create new ideas and ways of working, tailored to each new couple we meet. We understand that no two weddings are the same and it’s our passion for our work that really comes across when we tailor our work for each couple.

What do wedding couples love most about their Elvetham wedding?

The iconic staircase is the showstopper for all our couples.

Why do you love having Wedition as one of your recommend suppliers and what is it about a Wedition wedding that stands out so much?

Wedition offers our couples something truly special and unique for their wedding day. From getting to know the whole wedding party for a ‘meet and greet page’ or learning another cultures traditions to properly create something that represents a bride and groom, Liz is extraordinary in what she creates.

Quick Elvetham facts

• Maximum capacity for wedding breakfast guests: 120 in the main house or 450 if opting for a marquee 
• Maximum capacity for evening guests: 200 in the main or 450 if opting for a marquee 
• Real candles or LED candles? Real 
• Can we stay over the night before our wedding? Yes, we encourage it! 
• What time do guests have to leave? Our bar is open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays and 12am on Sundays. After these times the bar becomes a resident’s bar so the couple and their guests can party on for as long as they wish!
