Wedition couple M&N chose tweed and pheasant feathers teamed with lavender and sage green for their rustic festival wedding theme and colour scheme. They chose to give Wedition as a unique invitation to their weekend wedding. We styled their bespoke booklet to their colour scheme and included all the information that their guests needed to know in one handy place. Along with the invitation and a cut out RSVP page, we included the accommodation information, the weekend itinerary, the wedding day schedule, menu options, an introduction to the wedding party, the gift list information, a few important things to remember (flat shoes for the ceremony as it was taking place in a field and swimwear for the hot tubs!) and a few of the couple's favourite photos.

Wedition fun fact: Spirit feathers are given as a sign of gratitude and a symbol to honour a person's respect and love in American Indian culture. If you choose to incorporate a cultural element within your day and would like to share the story behind it with your guests, you can easily do this by including it within Wedition, a personalised wedding magazine which you give to your guests on the day of your wedding.

Feathers in floral displays and decorations

Make a statement with you floral displays by adding feathers to them. Feathers will lift your display, not only adding height to it but texture too. Long peacock feathers will accentuate the sculptural quality of a display. Ostrich feathers in neutral hues and pastel shades can be treated like leaves in the way that they are used, adding volume to the display. They will draw attention and cause interest amongst your guests. Use bright, vibrant colours to create a striking look creating a festive or party feel.

Decorate your bridal bouquet with feathers

Adding soft, neutral feathers to a bridal bouquet will give a more luxurious look that would look great at a city or hotel wedding venue whereas adding pheasant feathers will give the bridal bouquet a rustic feel, perhaps suited to a barn wedding venue or outdoor wedding ceremony. The striking blues and greens of peacock feathers will add an unexpected twist to a vibrant wedding bouquet.

Groom's buttonhole with feather decoration

Wedition grooms P&M chose to add a single peacock feather to their lapels rather than a floral buttonhole - this gave a more masculine look and complimented their wedding colour scheme perfectly.

Alternatively play around with textures and team your feather with buttons and material, creating a unique buttonhole for each groomsman, a fun way to add a touch of personality to each look.

Real Wedition Weddings: Groom's P&M had their ushers hand out their Wedition just before the ceremony, it included their order of service, favourite photos, readings, wedding party fun facts, their proposal story, wedding day details, venue history and wedding menu.

Sikh groom's saafa with feather decoration

Traditionally, the father of a Sikh groom will tie a turban, or saafa on his son’s head, the groom’s sister will sometimes add a feather to the centre of the saafa.

Feathers as decorations on wedding dresses

Feather accented wedding dresses really raise the wow factor. A feather trimmed hemline will create a sophisticated playful look and will affect the way that the dress moves, making the bride look as though she is gliding along the aisle. Single feather plumes used to accent embellishments such as rhinestones, crystal accents or sequins will create a refined and graceful air. A fully feathered wedding gown will make a bold and glamorous statement.
