The Finest Collection of Bedford OBs in the World!

I had the real pleasure of being invited over to Ages Past today where I met Dr Mark Sleep and his wonderful wife. We enjoyed a good chat over a cup of real coffee and I thoroughly enjoyed viewing all of the wonderful vehicles they have to offer and hearing the fascinating story of each one.

I myself am an MG enthusiast so I was delighted to see the MG 1936 SA Coupé. The car that started Ages Past back in 1978. This is  chassis No. 2 - the oldest in the world and was the actual Motor Show model for 1936, it is the only car in the world with all the Motor Show features on. The tallest passenger to sit in the rear seat is 6’ 8½”! The Tickford hood can be arranged in three positions.

Pictured is the 1949 Bedford OB 29 seater charabanc (right) next to the 1940 Bedford OB “straight liner”. The “straight-liner” is a 29 seat bus/coach, as dictated by he government at the time! The seats are mid-way between a bus and a coach and the “straight-liner’ name comes from the straight line look, this bus/coach does not have the flared coastline found on the other coaches.
