Real Wedition Weddings: Vicki & Will’s green & copper Surrey barn wedding
by Liz GathererHaving met at a nightclub in Reading when Vicki nearly hadn't gone out (she really should have been studying for her A levels!) this couple were destined to meet. Seven years later, on a romantic walk to the Lake District, a chance for Vicki to re-live fond childhood memories, Will got down on one knee (in the middle of a muddy puddle) to pop the question. This creative football loving couple chose to marry in Frensham, Surrey at the stunning barn venue that is Millbridge Court.
Green and copper personalised wedding magazine for a Surrey barn wedding
Bride Vicki was bridesmaid to previous Wedition couple N&B and seeing their personalised wedding magazine on their wedding day, she knew that when the time came, she simply had to have her own Wedition wedding too!
Vicki and Will opted for a green and copper colour scheme with foliage elements, this complimented their wedding colour scheme and theme perfectly. The couple used their personalised wedding magazine to:
- showcase their favourite couple’s photos
- welcome their guests to the wedding and inform them of the wedding hashtag
- order of service
- proposal story
- wedding party who’s who
- in memory of
- more favourite photos
- it’s all in the details - letting guests know the intricate details they had planned into their day
- where it all started, the story of how they met and their love story timeline
- story in numbers, fun numerical facts about the couple
- wedding menu
Millbridge Court - the perfect Surrey barn wedding venue
The perfect Surrey barn wedding venue Millbridge Court is a restored 19th Century house in the pretty village of Frensham, Surrey. The spacious light filled halls look out on to the sweeping gardens, giving the opportunity for Vicki and Will’s photographer to create the most captivating shots of the newly weds. Vicki opted to make the most of the height of this gorgeous Surrey barn wedding venue by using balloons to create height and movement to the airy rooms, adding colour and interest whilst creating balance to the overall look.
Surrey barn wedding personalised touches
Personalisation is at the heart of what we do here at Wedition, we are totally in love with everyone's personal choices to make their wedding day uniquely theirs. Let’s take a look at some of the personalisation that went into Vicki and Will’s special Surrey barn wedding:
Bridesmaids’ silk pyjamas
Being part of the bride tribe is even better when it comes with your own set of stunning silk pyjamas, making your girls feel part of the gang, and giving the opportunity for some awesome girl team photos.
Wedition Hot Tip: personalise the bridesmaid dress hangers with a message for each of your bridesmaids, telling them how thankful you are to have them in your life.
Personalised denim bride’s jacket
A September wedding comes with mild and pleasant weather and a chance of cool evenings, bride Vicki had the solution to keeping warm in the evening with this stunning denim jacket.
Personalised wedding Converse
Vicki wanted to make sure she she could enjoy the dancing on her wedding day to Will to the maximum, so she changed out of her incredible velvet green heels by Harriet Wilde and into her personalised Converse wedding trainers, the left wedding Converse with the slogan Mrs Day, the right wedding Converse with the slogan wifey (doesn’t that mean that the wifey is always right?!)
Personalised wedding cake knife and wedding cake slice
The majority of wedding venues will provide the wedding couple with a cake knife to use to cut their wedding cake, but if you want to cherish the moment for ever, you can bring your own personalised cake knife and cake slice, this way you can make sure it matches your colour scheme and it will be a joy many years down the line when your children are old enough to ask about them!
Doughnut tower wedding cake at a delightful Surrey barn wedding
Vicki and Will opted for a doughnut tower for their wedding cake, and what a vision it looked! The top tier was cake made by the bride herself so they would have something to cut and following a recommendation from me, Vicki commissioned Lucy of Lucy’s Toppers to create their personalised cake topper, life like characters of the bride and groom, wearing their Manchester United scarfs (they are huge fans!), with their pet dog Rolo and Clyde the cat at their feet!
In loving memory to those who cannot be with us - Surrey barn wedding ideas
It’s comforting to know that there are many ways that we can still include lost loved ones on our wedding day. Many Wedition couples choose to have an in memory of section inside their personalised wedding magazine, this can be in the form of poems, messages, photos and quotes. Some couples choose to mention within the "It’s all in the details" article that they have set up a quiet space where guests can take a moment to reflect on their lost loved ones. Vicki and Will included this poignant article within their Wedition and they also created an area with photos and a wedding sign: “Because someone we love is in heaven there’s a little bit of heaven at our wedding” so that guests could pay their respects.

Surrey barn wedding unique table plan ideas
Being huge football fans and supporters of Manchester United, the couple chose to name their wedding tables after some of their favourite footballers. Keeping with their theme, their table plan set up was a stroke of genius - the couple sourced white footballs and used one football for each table, writing on the table name and list of wedding guests, the footballs were displayed tastefully in wooden crates and adorned with foliage (which also acted as a great brake to stop the balls from rolling away!)
DIY gin wedding table centre pieces at a Surrey barn venue
As a lover of gin myself, Vicki and Will’s quest for the perfect DIY table centrepiece was inspiring, I wonder how many months it took them to drink the gin in order to get the empty bottle to use as their table centrepieces?! We all know that gin comes in so many flavours and varieties these days, always in really pretty bottles, they certainly make for pretty centrepieces… perhaps not the most cost effective though if you are buying the gin especially for the occasion!
Unique wedding favours for an inspiring Surrey barn wedding
Crackers aren’t just for Christmas you know! Admittedly up until Vicki and Will’s wedding I have only seen crackers at Christmas weddings, but why can’t they be for any time of year? They certainly bring a sense of occasion to the table along with sound, delight and surprise! Such a simple idea, yet so effective, they look fabulous on the tables and can be tailored to your exact colour scheme and filled with the gifts of your choice.
Wedition Hot Tip: rather than the usual joke and party hat to go with the cracker gift, how about a quote chosen especially for your guest, or a personalised message to thank them for coming to your wedding and letting them know just what their friendship means to you.
Personalised signs for a stunning Surrey barn wedding
Vicki is an enterprising bride who is certainly super talented and creative, be sure to take a look at one of her Instagram accounts Sorted Stationery Co where you can see the numerous personalised stationery and gifts she makes, from wedding signs and personalised bridesmaid hangers to Christmas baubles and bespoke crackers.
Vicki created all the signs for her wedding day, having had to postpone her wedding date to Will three times due to the Coronavirus, I loved how she had the last laugh by creating wedding signs to show that love will always win and come out on top! One wedding sign saying "We’ve waited an entire 462 days for this… party accordingly” and another “Spread love not germs”!
Green and copper wedding stationery for a barn wedding in Surrey
Wedding stationery really adds a special touch to the wedding day, from the invitations, order of service and wedding menu to the table plans and name place cards. I loved the variety of mediums that Vicki used for her wedding stationery, from her self-designed printed invitations, to the 3D real football table plan, to using crackers as not just the wedding favour but table name setting too and the copper art deco style frames for the table names.
The order of service and wedding menu were incorporated inside their Wedition, a personalised wedding magazine, which showcased the couple’s love story and in turn saved them money by giving them a handy place to include these wedding stationery essentials.
Wedition Hot Tip: as well as you order of service and wedding menu, you could include your readings and order of the day inside your personalised wedding magazine!
