Sharing your wedding day details with your guests

by Liz Gatherer

For many couples, once they have secured their date and wedding venue, and booked the photographer, the real wedding planning begins. With a venue in mind, you can now start visualising how your day will look and this will help guide you towards the right outfit choices for your wedding party, cake and wedding decor. It is usually once all the ‘big things’ have been decided that couples start thinking about the smaller details of the day, the details that are so tiny yet have such a huge impact. It is these details that the couple will use to entwine their authentic love story throughout their day. We’ll talk you through some popular choices as well as some unique ones that our couples have included on their day to give you inspiration for your own wedding day.

It will be these wedding details that help many couples style their day, some wedding themes are indiscrete whereas others are subtle. Real Wedition weddings: cherry blossom and woodland details celebrating the proposal story

A&M incorporated cherry blossom for their wedding by having hand caved cherry wood invitations, cherry blossom sugar flowers on the cake, cherry blossom centrepieces and their Wedition was also styled with cherry blossom. One of the cake layers was Cherry Bakewell.

The day was highlighted with rose gold accents to reflect A’s engagement and wedding rings.

The couple chose to have their pre-wedding shoot with their photographer in Ashdown Forest, Ashdown Forest is where M works and where A&M spend a lot of time going for walks. It is also the place where M proposed to A. The couple found a piece of wood near the proposal location that M carved into a pen pot which was positioned next to the wedding guest book on the wedding day. The groomsmen wore bespoke wooden Marvel bow ties to continue with the woodland theme and acknowledge their love of Marvel.

Real Wedition weddings: family connection themed wedding details with a 1920s twist

E&K’s wedding day theme started from their date, and E’s namesake, her great nana! E was named after her nana who was born on 15th September, K proposed to E on 15th September and the couple married exactly one year later, on 15th September! The couple chose to continue theming their day picking up tips from E’s great nana who had got married in the 1920s. Such a classic era, the couple felt it appropriate to gently theme their wedding around this era, most notable on the wedding stationery and their Wedition - the personalised wedding keepsake brochure given to their guests at the wedding breakfast. E’s bridal bouquet was based on great nana’s bouquet and a photo of great nana with her stunning loose waterfall bouquet was featured in the couple’s Wedition.

A few selected family members wore a yellow rose, there was a very special reason for this, it was to honour K’s nan who had passed away, it was a beautiful way to remember such a special person on their wedding day.

In continuation with the theme of family connections, the couple designed the engagement ring and wedding bands together with K’s aunty who is a jewellery designer. K’s cousin designed and made the personalised wooden place settings and even the wedding photographer the couple chose was an old school friend of the bride’s!

Real Wedition weddings: blue colour scheme and cocktail themed details to celebrate this couple’s shared passions

G&A have a shared passion for cocktails so this made for the perfect theme choice for their wedding day! Their wedding colour scheme inspiration of royal blue and light blue was taken from their birthstones of sapphire and topaz. The bridesmaid’s wore necklaces with the groom’s birthstone and the usherettes wore necklaces with the bride’s birthstone. The necklace that G wore, shared the same name as her husband-to-be's surname - surely that was meant to be?!

The tables were all named after cocktails and the welcome drinks were of course cocktails - an easy choice there! The wedding cake flavours were Cosmopolitan, Pornstar Martini and Margarita, some of the couple's favourite cocktail flavours.

The couple chose sticky toffee pudding for their dessert as it was whilst sharing this scrumptious pudding on a date together, G realised that A was ‘the one’!
