With peak-time dates selling out fast, you should certainly take a look at autumn 2021 and 2022 for your wedding day.

There are many positives to an autumnal wedding - from the British weather being more predictable to off-peak prices usually starting in October; to all the comforting seasonal food and the vibrant colours of nature.

Autumn wedding colour palette

Autumn’s colourful season naturally inspires a wedding palette of reds, golds and oranges. Team with plum and lavender and you’ll have yourself a warm, rich and vibrant colour scheme.

Seasonal fabrics for an autumn wedding

Tweed, corduroy, velvet linen and wool will work so well with your autumnal wedding colours. Think velvet ties and tweed waistcoats for the groomsmen, linen table runners, and wool cushions on the wedding ceremony seats or wool blankets to keep guest’s knees warm during the ceremony.

Real Wedition Weddings: Mitzy and Nate had a fabulous rustic weekend wedding with a festival vibe to it. They chose a sage green and lavender colour scheme which they paired with tweed and pheasant feathers. We designed their wedding invitation to match this gorgeous scheme.

Flowers for an autumn wedding

Mix dried flowers and feathers with seasonal wedding flowers such as anemones, antique roses, spray roses, carnations, dahlias, eucalyptus, foxgloves, Japanese maple leaves and red berries.  This will create a stunning, relaxed, boho vibe which will beautifully compliment your autumn wedding theme.

Autumn wedding reception ideas

There are a multitude of details that you can plan into your autumn wedding day to add that extra element of warmth and sparkle:

• Serve mulled cider or wine at your wedding reception, this can be on a self-serve basis with your guests, you can decorate the mulled cider or wine station with dried leaves, pumpkins, pears and apples.
• A popcorn station would be a fun addition to your day, rather than choosing the standard salted or sugar popcorn, you can flavour it with cinnamon sugar, caramel or gingerbread.
• Extend your cake table into a dessert or sweetie table. A really fun way for guests to select what they would like to eat. Use springs of seasonal foliage and flowers, in-season berries and tea light candles to make the table really appealing.

• If you are looking to theme your autumn wedding - Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Halloween will make ideal ones.
• Use chestnuts or pine cones around the base of candles.
• Use wooden slabs as candle bases and bases for flower displays.
  
• Use the variety of pumpkins and squash that is available at this time of year as table centrepieces or general decorations dotted around your venue at key places - the cake table; the card and gift area; line outside steps or corridors; and place in the bathrooms.

End your autumn wedding with a bang!

An autumn wedding is the prefect occasion to have sparklers and fireworks! How romantic for everyone to huddle together outside to “oh” and “ah” their way through a stunning wedding firework display. Firework companies are so skilled with what they do and are able to create a stunning display to music of your choice.

Autumn wedding lighting

Due to the days being shorter you’ll want to make your autumn wedding venue feel super cosy in the afternoon when the natural light starts fading. You can never have enough fairy lights! They work well in so many spaces, they can be wrapped round seats, tables and or trees. Team with lanterns, pillar candles and lots of tea lights for a wonderfully cosy feel.
