Wedding Ideas for Table Names

by Liz Gatherer

Naming your tables for your wedding breakfast is such a fun way to add personalisation into your day. It’s a great way to incorporate your wedding theme too if you are having one. And if you are not having a theme running through your day, naming your tables creatively will make an enjoyable talking point amongst your guests!

We take a look back at some of our Wedition weddings to see what wedding ideas for table names our couples have come up with!

Kate and Ben’s wedding was all about their love to travel. This travel theme ran through their entire wedding, from the invitations and the cake to the ring bearers sign. Each of their wedding table name ideas came from favourite holiday destinations, all of which were mentioned within their Wedition.

Kate and Ben’s Wedition: a travel theme ran throughout their Wedition, we incorporated passport stamps, vintage luggage and their wedding logo. We styled some of the pages as postcards and shared the details of their travel wedding theme within an “It’s all in the details” article.

Unusual wedding table names

Zoë and James absolutely adore Jo Malone scents, so much so, they named each table after one! Their unusual wedding table names included: Pomegranate Noir; Peony and Blush Suede; and French Lime Blossom.

Wedition Hot Tip: Scent your wedding day by strategically placing scented candles around your venue. Scents have a powerful impact on people’s memories and can transport you and your guests back to your wedding day each time they smell the scent in the future! Read more on scenting your day here in our wedblog 7 Unique Wedding Ideas. If you choose to scent your wedding day, you can share the symbolic meaning of this within your Wedition.

Creative wedding table names

Hannah and Luke came up with a fun and creative idea for their table names. Hannah works as an accountant and wanted to incorporate her love of numbers into the wedding day. Hannah and Luke took the number of the most significant dates in their relationship and named each table after that number. But the guests had to work for their meal! The table plan was a series of mathematical questions for each guest, they first had to do a sum to figure out which table they were on!

Hannah and Luke’s Wedition: Hannah and Luke featured all their special dates within their Wedition so that each guest could learn the significance of their table number. “We hope your maths is on point when taking your seats for the wedding breakfast. You will find yourself on table 19, 14, 13, 23, 29, 7, 25, 18 or 9.”

Evie and James share a passion for video games and board games, so much so they decided to make this their wedding theme. We loved styling their Wedition to complement this theme by including vintage arcade characters such as Pac Man and Space Invaders along with chess pieces and Scrabble tiles. Each one of Evie and James’ wedding tables were themed around a game, for example, the “Chess” table had wooden chess pieces as part of the table decoration.

Disney themed wedding table names

Disney loving couple Jeni and Omid got engaged at EuroDisney in Paris and incorporated this theme throughout their wedding day. We included the story of their proposal within their Wedition. The lovely couple had Micky and Minnie outlines for each table place name too.

Wedding ideas for table names

M1 South, POF and Spice might seem like unusual choices for wedding ideas for table names but these are all important places to Rose and Jason. Rose and Jason were driving on the M1 on the way home from a date when Jason asked Rose if she would like to be his girlfriend. POF (Plenty of Fish) is the online dating site where the couple first met and Spice is the name of their favourite Indian restaurant and the place where Jason first met Rose’s parents!

Ally and Alex were another couple who named their tables after places important to them. We loved how their table plan was made using wall paper from their living room - a little reminder of home on their wedding day!

Rose and Jason’s Wedition: We included a page entitled “Table Names Explained” - a fun way to share the story of Rose and Jason’s special places with their family and friends.
