Living Coral | Pantone's Colour of the Year 2019

by Liz Gatherer

For a long time now, blush pink has been the go to colour for couples wanting to add a subtle hue to their wedding day. Pantone’s colour of the year, living coral, sees this romantic colour stepped up a notch, living coral exudes a sense of lively warmth. We take a look at how to incorporate Pantone’s colour of the year 2019 into your wedding day.

Incorporating living coral into your wedding day

Your living coral wedding will be the result of months of careful planning, important decisions and thoughtful choices. You will consider many things from the date itself, the venue, your cake look and taste, the flowers, reading choices and music selection. What if I were to tell you that you can tie all your wedding planning together in one place and present it in a beautiful keepsake for your guests to cherish? Wedition does just that, use it to point out all those important details that would otherwise go unnoticed by your guests. These are the details that make your wedding uniquely yours and different from everyone else’s wedding. Share with your guests the history of your venue, who’s who in your wedding party and the story of how you met and your proposal. Include important memories and photos of loved ones who have passed, show your fun side by including a game of camera I spy or wedding speech bingo. Perhaps ask your guests to complete a ‘words of wisdom’ page or even use Wedition as a way to have your pet be at your day by letting them ‘write’ an article about their thoughts on the meaning of love and marriage!

Living coral wedding stationery

Your wedding day menu can be easily incorporated within your Wedition. We can put your living coral themed menu on the back cover of your Wedition. What a surprise for you guests when they sit down to the wedding breakfast, pick up what they think is the menu to then find out that it is your wedding story, revealed right in front of their very eyes! As well as your menu, if you wish, we can include your order of service and your readings as well as the order of the day. You may like to share the story behind your ceremony music choices and why they are so meaningful to you.

Living coral wedding colour palette

Each year Pantone analyse trends and take inspiration from travel, art, fashion and lifestyle. Living coral has been selected for 2019 because it can be found in our natural surroundings yet has a lively presence. This mellow, yet vibrant colour exudes a sense of warmth and joy. But what should you team it with? Coral works well with navy and grey. If you want to add a summertime pop of colour to this palette then I suggest turquoise, which in fact was the 2010 colour of the year. If you are having a winter coral wedding, team it with aqua blue and ivory with touches of gold.

Scenting your living coral wedding

In the Wedition Unique Wedding Ideas for 2019 wedblog, we discussed how to scent your wedding. If you are keen to follow our advice, then I would suggest scenting your living coral wedding with mandarine and wood sage. Position reed diffusers and scented candles around key spaces in your venue to enable the lively citrus scent of mandarine to combine with the earthiness of wood sage. Enhance the scent of your coral wedding by serving Bombay Sapphire gin with Fever Tree clementine tonic water at your drinks reception.

Styling your living coral wedding

Incorporating coral into your wedding style will be so much fun. Coral napkins will work beautifully with gold chargers, cutlery and glasses, Crystal Hire Ltd have a fantastic range available. For your flowers, use Gerbera daisies, Coral Charm peonies and peach gladiolus, consider asking your florist to create a moon arch with these flowers for your ceremony. After your ceremony, ask you venue to re-purpose your moon arch by displaying your cake underneath it, this will make for some fabulous photo opportunities.
