The Little Pebble

I'd like to tell you two stories about a little pebble.

I went to a wedding of a good friend of mine a few years back, when it was time to find our seats for the wedding breakfast I noticed that she had written everyone's names on a little pebble...

The pebble was on top of the menu. I picked up the menu and realised it was more than that, it was a magazine! I had a flick through and I spotted a windswept photograph of my friends Emma and Matthew holding hands, grinning from ear to ear standing on a beach, with a basket full of pebbles. I read the paragraph next to it, they had spent the whole morning on the beach with their dog Tess collecting those pebbles. They had a pub lunch and spent the evening doing the table plan together and writing each guest name on to every pebble they had collected. They were roaring with laughter when they had nearly finished as they had written Sam's name on a huge pebble and found themselves with only one tiny pebble left where they needed to fit the name Katrina on to!

I held my named pebble in my hand, and could feel the love shining out of it.
