Photoshoot at Gate Street Barn | Wedition

by Liz Gatherer

I was really pleased to be invited to participate in a styled shoot at Gate Street Barn back in February, I had not done one before, it certainly is a lot of hard work but also a huge amount of fun!

The Brief

The wonderful team at Gate Street Barn near Guildford in Surrey, chose a selection of suppliers to come and produce a Game of Thrones style photoshoot, incorporating the elements of fire and ice. We were given use of the venue on a lovely snowy Wednesday morning in March, perfect for the 'ice' part of the photoshoot!

Preparing for the Photoshoot at Gate Street Barn

As our theme was Fire and Ice for our Game of Thrones inspired shoot, it only seemed fitting that Mae was the vehicle of choice! Mae is a gorgeous ice blue camper, lovingly owned by Angie and Ralf.  I car shared with Angie whilst Mae arrived at Gate Street Barn in fine style - driven by Angie’s husband, Ralf.

Natasha Wiggins and colleague Kelly were already at the venue. It is worth knowing that Natasha and her team of fabulous hair and make up artists, give a 10% discount to Wedition customers! Natasha and Kelly set to work on the two beautiful models, Lauren and Grace. They had been provided dresses from Hummingbird Bridal Studio and head pieces from Dolls Mad Hattery.

There was a real air of excitement whist preparing for this wonderful photoshoot at Gate Street barn, Emma from Gifted Heart Cakes was putting the finishing touches on her two cakes whilst Ed from Crystal Hire was preparing the table. Sara from To Have and To Hire was up and down a ladder hanging lanterns that Angie and I were helping to prepare for her. Chris Mann the photographer was getting his equipment set up and taking some test shots. It really was all hands on deck, a real hive of activity!

The Game of Thrones Photoshoot Begins!

The two brides emerged, looking stunning, and the shoot was underway. Lauren aka Fire was first and then it was a quick turnaround of cake, decorations and tableware so that Grace aka Ice could have her turn under the spotlight.

We then all headed outside to continue our photoshoot at this stunning venue, there was snow on the ground, perfect for Mae to take her position as an Ice bridesmaid helping out her Ice bride! We used her shelf to display the cake, what a wonderful and unique way to show off your wedding cake!

Although the sun was shining, it was a very cold morning, Lauren and Grace wore coats whenever they were not being photographed, I certainly did not envy them in when they had to quickly whip their jackets off for the photos!

Before too long, it was time to pack everything away and then eagerly await the photos from Chris, he was brilliant and got them edited and ready to publish within a couple of days!

Thanks to blogger Alison Tinlin for publishing the photos.
